James-Histed

James Histed

DVM DipACVO MRCVS

RCVS Specialist in Veterinary Ophthalmology
American Specialist in Veterinary Ophthalmology

James was born and raised in Ontario, Canada. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in marine biology from the University of Guelph, before going on to obtain his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island, Canada in 2006. He went on to complete a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, Canada from 2006-2007.

James subsequently moved to the USA and completed a combined three year academic and private practice residency with North Carolina State University and Animal Eye Care from 2007-2010. He sat (and passed) his board examination the same year he finished the residency, thus becoming a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists.

Returning home to Canada, James worked as an associate veterinary ophthalmologist at a busy urban referral ophthalmology practice in Toronto. Between 2012-2014, James was also an adjunct professor in ophthalmology for the Ontario Veterinary College, in Guelph, Canada. In 2014, James took on a new adventure in life, moving with his European wife and their two children to England, which is where his ancestors originally hail from.

James brings with him a passion for veterinary ophthalmology, with a special interest in corneal disease and surgery. Further, like all at NDSR, he strives to provide excellent patient care, client relationships, and communication with referring veterinary surgeons.

Richard-Everson

Richard Everson

BSc(Hons) BVetMed MVetMed MRCVS

Clinician in Ophthalmology

Richard graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London in 2003. While working in general practice he developed a strong interest in ophthalmology and undertook an internship in ophthalmology at the Animal Health Trust, Newmarket in 2013-14. Following this he undertook a three year specialist training programme in comparative ophthalmology at the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals, Royal Veterinary College, studying towards the European College of Veterinary Ophthalmology diploma. Following the successful completion of his training, Richard remained at the RVC as a clinician for a further year before joining the team at NDSR in July 2018. He will sit his final examination for the European College of Veterinary Ophthalmology Diploma in 2019.

Richard enjoys all aspects of veterinary ophthalmology and was lucky to train at a centre with a high cataract surgery case load, prompting a particular interest in this field. Furthermore, like all at NDSR, he strives to provide excellent patient care, client relationships, and communication with referring veterinary surgeons.
