Rodolfo graduated from the University of Milan in1989 and worked in general practice for 6 years. In 1995 he joined the Royal Veterinary College as a resident in neurology and neurosurgery. He achieved Board certification in Veterinary Neurology in 1997 and became a staff clinician at the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals.

In 1999, Rodolfo was awarded Petplan funding to pursue a 3 year research project into intervertebral disc degeneration in dogs, for which he was awarded his PhD. Rodolfo was then appointed Lecturer in Neurology at the Royal Veterinary College. In 2007, he joined NDSR, where he is now Director of the Neurology service.

Rodolfo became an RCVS recognised Specialist in Neurology in 2009. He has particular interest in intervertebral disc disease, vitamin E deficiency, caudal cervical instability in Dobermans, brain surgery, syringohydromyelia and advanced diagnostic imaging.

Dr. Niklas Bergknut graduated from The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in 2000. After working as a first opinion small animal clinician in Sweden and the UK for six years, Niklas started a PhD in 2007 (on the topic of intervertebral disc degeneration in dogs). As the PhD was a joint project between the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and Utrecht University, Niklas and his Dutch wife moved to the Netherlands in 2008. The PhD was concluded in 2010 and Niklas then started his ECVN residency in Neurology which he completed in January 2014. After completing his residency, he worked as a lecturer in neurology and neurosurgery at Utrecht University until early 2016 and thereafter Niklas joined a Specialist clinic in the south of the Netherlands, before joining NDSR in the November 2016.

Niklas is passionate about sharing the wonderful world of neurology and he frequently lectures on different neurology and neurosurgery topics, especially spinal disorders which has long been the focus for his research. He has also published numerous scientific articles and book chapters in Veterinary Clinics of North America: Small Animal Practice and the new upcoming Veterinary Surgery (Tobias 2nd edition).

His free time is spent with his wife and three children exploring the UK, playing tennis, taking long walks with his dog Azzi and at Rotary where he is an active member.
